Amateur radio volunteers across New England are finalizing operational plans to support the 26.2-mile route of the Boston Marathon, providing essential public safety and medical communications.
Operating under the callsign W1BOS and dedicated tactical frequencies, over 300 licensed operators will staff medical tents, course checkpoints, finish-line command centers, and SAG vehicles from Hopkinton through Framingham, Wellesley, Newton, and into Copley Square.
🏃 World-Class Race Communications
The Boston Marathon communications deployment represents one of the largest annual public service amateur radio events in North America, testing operator discipline under high-density RF conditions.
