The Cape Ann Amateur Radio Association (W1GLO) in Gloucester is preparing for its 24-hour ARRL Field Day emergency preparedness exercise on the rocky North Shore coastline.
Club members will set up temporary wire antennas, vertical beams, and emergency solar-diesel generators to make contacts with thousands of stations across North America on HF bands including 40M, 20M, and 15M CW/SSB.

In addition to radiosport contesting, W1GLO will host a public GOTA (Get On The Air) station to introduce local students and visitors to hands-on radio communications and Morse code.
